Chimney Sweeping

Our service

Using a combination of traditional and modern techniques, we provide clean and efficient chimney sweeping for a full range of appliances. Alongside a sweep we can also perform stove repairs.

What happens during a chimney sweep?

1.

We will make an assessment of your chimney and evaluate if there are any blockages present or creosote deposits building up.

2.

Sweep! Depending on the condition of your chimney we will sweep it using either traditional brushes or an electronic power sweep.

3.

We will do a smoke test.

This determines if there are any air leakages in the chimney or flue.

4.

Once your sweep is finished we will issue you with a certificate of sweeping. This will include a brief report of your appliances' safety, alert you to anything that needs repairing and can be used as a record of maintenance for insurance purposes.

How often should a chimney be swept?

It is recommended that you have your chimney swept a minimum of once per year. However, if you use your appliance regularly you should consider having it swept a couple of times a year. Sweeping reduces the risk of a chimney fire by clearing the chimney flue of debris and  creosote.  Sweeping also reduces the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning because it ensure the flue is unobstructed by soot deposits, birds nests and debris.

What do I need to do before my chimney sweeps' arrival?

Before we arrive:

  • Clear fragile objects, decorations, or fireplace tools away from the hearth and mantelpiece

  • Do not have a fire in the 24 hours leading up to the sweep

  • Give the appliance a light clean and remove any ash/fuel from the base of the appliance

  • Ensure a path is cleared from the entry point of the property to the appliance. This ensures that your chimney sweep can safely bring their equipment to the appliances.

How long does a chimney sweep take?

Depending on the appliance and its condition, one chimney sweep can take anywhere between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Does chimney sweeping cause mess?

Chimneys are one of the dirtiest parts of the home. However, we have devised a clean and efficient process to mitigate mess while sweeping.
